Domaine de Marquiliani Vin de Corse Rosé Gris 2016

Domaine Marquiliani is turning out not just the best rosé in Corsica but some of the best in the world. This tiny 2 hectare domaine, makes only two wines and they’re both rosé in fact. This cuvée is my favorite. The fruit is hand harvested from low yielding Sciaccarellu vines and refrigerated during it’s journey to the cellar where it’s direct pressed, virtually no skin contact, into stainless steel vats where it undergoes a a 72 hour cold soak to allow the lees to settle before decanting. The results are stupendous and particularly so in this vintage, reputed to be the best in years for rosé in southern France. Importer Kermit Lynch still has the most accurate tasting note: “Drinking her rosé is like drinking a cloud. There’s an absolute weightlessness to it. Nothing is left on the palate but perfume.”
