Matteo Baldin Bramaterra 2015

Bramaterra is one of those oddballs you almost never see in shops or on wine lists, even in its northern Piedmont home. It’s a fairly obscure DOC like neighbors Boca, Fara, Sizzano, Ghemme, Lessona etc. but not for lack of great wine. This sub alpine zone just south of Monte Rosa and 100 miles drive from Barolo is in fact producing some of the most exciting Nebbiolo based wines in Piedmont at the moment and most of them are stunning values. The reason you never see these is because they barely exists; the entire DOC is only 72 acres compared to Barolo’s roughly 4,300.
