Domaine Vieux Télégraphe Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Provence)2021 500ml

The only olive oils I buy and sell come from the best Mediterranean wineries in France and Italy (and Corsica which considers itself neither). These tend to be boutique wineries with very small production and everything done by hand. They're also, without exception, the best olive oils I've ever tasted. Vieux Télégraphe is one of the great producers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a region famous for it's unique, relatively high altitude rocky landscape on the left bank of the Rhône river. This terroir is also perfect for olives though yields are very low so there's noe real commercial olive oil production here. Just about 125 cases of olive from a handful of old trees in high altitude groves between Gigondas and Caromb towards Mont Ventoux.

This is a gorgeous, deep green Provençal olive oil with some of the typical artichoke and grassy notes of the south but a little less peppery, a little more buttery on the finish. The perfect oil for dressing raw vegetables and simple grilled fish and red meat. Very similar to the great Giuseppe Quintarelli olive oil with a distinctive Provençal accent. Very little available.
